1.Who we are
YardFit is a Jamaican mobile app made by Radikal Studios, a registered business in Jamaica. It gives personalised nutrition guidance, meal plans and fitness support built around Jamaican food and culture.
Radikal Studios is the data controller for the personal information you provide when using YardFit. Contact us at support@radikalstudios.app.
2.Who can use YardFit
YardFit is only for people aged 18 and over. Age is checked at sign-up using your date of birth, and accounts are not available to anyone under 18.
3.Data we collect
We only collect what we need to give you personalised health and nutrition guidance.
Information you give us
- Name or nickname (your choice) and email address
- Date of birth, sex, height and weight
- Your goal (lose, gain or maintain weight), activity level, food allergies and dietary preferences, exercise preferences and fitness level
- Journal notes you choose to write, and recipes you add yourself
- Feedback, issue reports and survey answers you submit
Information created as you use the app
- Weight, meal, water and workout logs, and your progress over time
- YardPoints earned and rewards claimed
- Security records: your IP address and device type when you earn points or claim rewards, used to prevent fraud
What we do not collect
- Payment card details (handled by Apple, Google or PayPal)
- Your location, contacts or address book
- Your photos: journal photos are saved only on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers
4.How we use your data
- To create and manage your account (contract)
- To build your meal and workout plans and track your progress (contract)
- To send reminders and notifications you have turned on (consent)
- To improve YardFit and fix problems (legitimate interest)
- To run the rewards programme, check reward claims and prevent fraud (legitimate interest)
- To meet our legal obligations under Jamaican law (legal obligation)
5.Health data
Your health and nutrition data (such as weight, BMI, allergies and dietary preferences) is sensitive personal data under the Data Protection Act 2020. We process it only with the explicit consent you give at sign-up. It is never sold, never shared for commercial purposes, and never used for advertising. You can withdraw consent and delete your health data at any time by deleting your account.
6.Who we share data with
We never sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers. We share limited data only with the service providers that help us run YardFit, and only for these purposes:
- Apple and Google: in-app subscription payments (they never see your health data)
- PayPal: payments made through our website only (they never see your health data)
- Cloud hosting providers: the secure servers where your account data is stored
- Email service providers: verification codes, password resets and your journal archive
- GiftMe: if you claim a gift card reward, the details needed to send it to you (such as your name and email)
Our servers and service providers may be located outside Jamaica. Wherever your data is stored, we protect it as described here. We may also disclose data if required by Jamaican law or a court order, or to protect the safety of our users.
7.How we protect your data
- Everything sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt; we never store them in plain text
- Journal notes are encrypted with AES-256 before they are stored
- Our database cannot be reached from the public internet
- Access to personal data is limited to authorised personnel
- We review YardFit's security regularly, including before major releases
- If a data breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant Jamaican authority within 72 hours
8.How long we keep data
- Your account and progress: for as long as you have an account
- Journal entries: 12 months, then emailed to you as a PDF and removed from our servers
- When you delete your account: your account and personal data are erased straight away. Security records and issue reports are kept only with your name, email, IP address and account link removed
- Reward payout records: up to 7 years for accounting, as Jamaican law requires
- Anonymised data: may be kept indefinitely, as it cannot identify you
9.Your rights

10.Cookies and tracking
The YardFit app does not use cookies. A login token stored on your device keeps you signed in; it contains only your account ID and email and is never shared with third parties. We do not use third-party tracking, analytics or advertising tools that follow you across other apps.
11.Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we will tell you in the app and by email, and update the version and date at the top of this page.
